WHY WE'RE HERE:

 With lifetimes of myths and misinformation about homosexuality, many people don't know where to turn when they find out a family member or friend is gay. PFLAG Fort Wayne offers a non-judgmental outlet that can help you realize you are not alone with your questions and your feelings. Both families and g/l/b/t individuals go through a similar process before they learn more and become more accepting and loving of themselves and one another. We provide direct support to people needing answers to their questions with our ongoing sharings, video presentations, lending library, and speakers. Through understanding we become more accepting and loving.

OUR MEETINGS:

 As parents, family and friends, we meet with our g/l/b/t loved ones to listen, share and love. We come together in order to bring understanding and acceptance for our gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender friends and family members. Everyone is welcome. A cardinal rule of PFLAG is confidentiality. Through supporting one another and our education we become able to embrace and later become advocates for our loved ones. Meetings are usually small with from six to twelve people attending.

CONFIDENTIALITY:

 A cardinal rule of PFLAG is confidentiality. What is said and who is seen at our gatherings must stay within the event. GLBT people, their families and friends share their experiences and offer support. PFLAG meetings are a safe haven where judgment is reserved and confidentiality is respected. Breaking this rule may result in exclusion of the violator from future activities. (And once again, no one is ever photographed for publication without permission for reasons of confidentiality.)

Some day, this will not make a difference because people will have grown in their understanding. As for now, we will continue to respect each person's privacy and comfort level.

THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION:

 PFLAG, is a non-profit organization of which PFLAG-Fort Wayne is an affiliate. It has a membership of over 80,000 households and more than 464 affiliates worldwide. You are welcome because our goal is to be as helpful as possible. Coming from many different backgrounds and perspectives, we all work together for support, education and advocacy.
