On this day we crossed the equator. It was a pretty interesting thing to do. At the tourist shop set up at the equator (a example of real estate location, location, location) the "professor" demonstrated how water exiting a container through a hole in the bottom (like a toilet) will circulate in one direction north of the equator and in the other direction when it is south of the equator. Maybe true, maybe slight of hand, but most were amazed.
We soon arrived at the Mountain lodge, the only ‘tree hotel’ ever to be built on the slopes of Kenya’s legendary Mount Kenya. Serena Mountain Lodge offers game viewing opportunities while combining a glorious panorama of mountain vistas with the primordial splendors of an ancient rainforest
. . .
We were very lucky during our overnight stay and saw animals at the waterhole outside our room. There were buffalo, warthogs, mongoose, water buck, birds and many others. The rooms are small but adequate and offered a balcony on which to view the animals that came to the watering hole. There was a grass island in the shape of Africa and a "secret" tunnel out to a hidden viewing area right near the water.

A heard of Cape Buffalo came to drink.
. . . . .
A Cape Buffalo stands look out. . . . . . . . . .. . . A Dafassa Waterbuck visited with his friends below.

A group of Dafassa Waterbucks came to drink at the water hole.

Some of the animals we saw included these Bush Bucks.
Pete Hackett has traveled to Kenya to become a member of the Maasai tribe.
He did it all so that he could please his idol, Uncle Ducky. Pete was an awesome companion in Kenya.
This video was seen on the Uncle Ducky Show in May, 2009.
The best nearby view, however, was of Mount Kenya
more to come . . . . now go to Lake Nakuru National Park and More
